What to wear for a milestone birthday

Suit jackets are everyday wear for some, so when it comes to your birthday, you should always aspire to go one better. For me that means a Tuxedo. For others, it may entail telling everyone to come casual and you show up looking like a million dollars lol. My favourite Tux brands at the moment are Noose and Monkey and Alexander Dobell. I own 4 from the latter. Currently I’v e got a soft spot for velvet. When I reference milestone birthdays I’m focusing on ages such as 18, 21, 25, 30 and 40.

My theory is if a stranger walks into your birthday celebration, they should be able to identify the celebrant with relative ease.

I don’t want to celebrate my birthday

This was My favourite line for years, but now I celebrate every birthday. It’s my day to feel special and loved, everyone loves that feeling, even the shyest of individuals. I personally hate the limelight and being centre of attention, but I love when people make an effort to support and celebrate me. It reminds me that people do care, even if it is only for one day.
Like I’ve said in a previous post don’t allow your 80 year old self to be annoyed with your 20 something year old self. Celebrate now while you’re young and in good health. Being alive is a reason to celebrate alone and shows gratitude. I have a friend who if you ask him what he wants to do for his birthday he’ll always reply nothing and genuinely mean it. However, when we threw him a surprise party he was the happiest man ever. He enjoyed being celebrated. It’s such an uplifting feeling when you know people give damn about you.

What goes well with a Tux jacket?

It depends on the Tux but ultimately trial and error, try different looks with different style and colour shirts and bow tie. Also decide how big you want the Lapel. Some prefer really thin ones and other people thick Lapels. If you’re really unsure then hire me as your stylist, I would love to help. The same applies for your choice of shoes and trousers.
